Phantom, then called Verse, adds panes, browser and dictation
In two days Ashlr merged dozens of pull requests that turned Phantom (then called Verse) into a workbench with a terminal, browser, diffs and local dictation.
What changed
Phantom was called Ashlr Verse until recently. On September 27 and 28, 2026, the team merged a long run of pull requests in its repository. This is a plain-English tour of the biggest ones. Each item below comes from a pull request title and description.
The chat became a workbench. One pull request describes a chat-first layout with a panel area beside or under the conversation. The panels hold a terminal, a browser, a diff view of changes, files, sources and the agent's reasoning. Other pull requests built the terminal, with command blocks that the agents can share, and an integrated browser the agents can see and use.
