Google DeepMind introduced Genie 4, a world model that generates interactive environments in real time using simulated physics, human motion, and native audio. Gemini Omni shapes the environment while Gemini 3.8 Flash follows events, plans steps, and adjusts the scene. Users interact via keyboard, camera controls, or text prompts without restarting the simulation.
The system supports agent rehearsal of multi-step tasks in generated test environments. An example shows Apptronik's Apollo humanoid playing checkers with Gemini planning moves and Genie rendering results. Game developers and enterprise partners are exploring prototype testing and scenario generation.
Genie 4 cannot always maintain object consistency during longer sessions and the physics are not always accurate. Google acknowledges these limits and has not published benchmarks on repeated agent tests or prompt consistency. The tool is not positioned as a replacement for traditional physics engines in high-stakes evaluations.
Only trusted testers currently have access. Google plans to expand to Google AI Ultra subscribers through Project Genie and to select partners via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. No pricing, wider release date, or performance guarantees have been announced.
