ashlr-plugin 1.36.5 drops its own headline number
ashlr-plugin 1.36.5 replaces its 57 percent savings headline with per-call figures and fixes extra overhead on tiny edits. This is an Ashlr release.
This briefing covers a release from Ashlr’s own developer-tool projects. Product claims come from the linked sources; this is not an independent review.
What changed
ashlr-plugin cuts the size of what coding agents read. On October 16, 2026 its maintainers published version 1.36.5. One change is about honesty in marketing.
The README and docs used to lead with a 57 percent savings figure. The release notes say that number was replaced by per-call figures. The reason is that 57 percent was an average of single tool calls, not a measure of a whole working session. The documentation now says reads are about 75 percent smaller and searches about 50 percent smaller per call, on three open-source projects.
