Anthropic opens verified access for life sciences

Use an illustrative document task to separate access from quality: a team wants a draft comparison of two public research papers for a qualified reviewer. Before connecting private material, specify which passages the draft must cite, which disagreements it must preserve, and when it must say that the evidence is insufficient. Build a small test set that includes a missing methods section, conflicting conclusions and an irrelevant but similarly titled paper. For this example, acceptance should require traceable citations and no unsupported claims about the papers; a fluent answer alone should not pass. Record the model, grant and product surface alongside the result so later changes can be checked against the same cases. Keep the output as a review aid, with any scientific judgment remaining with the responsible experts.

The useful first question is which currently blocked, legitimate workflow would justify the additional operating obligations. Name both a research owner who can judge the output and a data owner who can decide what may be submitted. Establish who handles an account or usage concern and who reviews access when a project or employee’s role changes. If a proposed workflow depends on protected or confidential material, resolve its eligibility and handling requirements before a trial; do not assume that moving it to another account resolves those requirements. A pilot should have a bounded purpose, a review process and a stop condition. Provider permission, organizational approval and evidence that the work is useful are separate decisions.
