Anthropic folds Cowork into Claude and adds Docs and Slides

The decision here is about a surface you may have been treating as two. If your team relies on chat staying conversational, the change means a prompt that used to return text can now start a longer run that touches tools and connectors. Before the rollout reaches your plan, write down which connectors a Claude conversation can currently reach and what each one can write to, then re-check that list afterwards. Anthropic says you can configure Claude to ask before acting or to check in only when needed; treat that setting as a control to test, not a default to assume. Claude Code is unchanged, so do not plan for parity between the two.

If you administer an Enterprise plan, the useful item is the notice window rather than the feature list. Anthropic says admins get at least 30 days before the change and decide when to enable it, which is time to answer where generated documents are stored, who can open a shareable link, and whether Docs and Slides output falls inside your existing retention rules. Team and Free plans are described as following later with no date, so avoid promising staff a timeline. Beta status on paid plans means behaviour can change between now and general availability; a purchasing decision made on this week’s behaviour may not describe next quarter’s.
